The 2022/2023 minor hockey season is almost here!
The non-evaluation ice times for U11 players that have registered for Competitive Team tryouts start this week. This is a friendly reminder that players are required to bring their own hockey sweaters.
The OMHA Competitive Team Tryout Evaluations will commence Oct. 1st. Parents are reminded to provide positive support and encourage their player to relax and have fun. They should also prepare their players to accept the coaches’ decisions and keep working to improve (whether they make a competitive team or not). This is a stressful time for players, parents, coaches and volunteers. The responsibility to effectively evaluate players for placement on competitive teams is challenging. It is difficult to satisfy the expectations of all members in the evaluation process. Evaluation, by its very nature, is subjective because it is based upon the opinion of those evaluating. The intention of the OMHA is to bring as much quality, consistency, fairness and transparency to the process as is reasonably possible. Like any volunteer-based organization, our Association relies heavily on volunteers who have children playing in our various divisions and we require their assistance in order to be able to conduct annual tryouts. Members that have strong feelings regarding the process are advised to advance their concerns in writing to the OMHA as per Part 2, Section 12 of the OMHA Operations Manual. The OMHA will not engage in a reactive manner to any members that behave emotionally and inappropriately. The membership is responsible for their actions as outlined in Part 2, Section 12 of the OMHA Operations Manual.
Remember that your player has an opportunity to tryout due to a team of dedicated volunteers. Please be sure and thank the individuals that make minor hockey happen in our community.
The following schedule outlines the ice-times for players that have registered for competitive team try-outs. All ice times are at Soldiers Arena.
For additional information, please contact the respective Divisional Directors as there will be details and instructions provided before attending the ice times.
